The Electric
Slat Bed (coming soon)
Our electric slat bed system fits
into any existing bed frame that is designed to hold a set of the same size. Our
electric bed makes it more comfortable for you when you try to read, watch
television, work on your laptop, phone conversations, etc. The firmness in the
lumbar area is adjustable to suit your personal needs. The pillow area raises
and lowers to your liking. Actually, there are 5 different zoned areas to
adjust. The wood for the slats is farm raised from German Birch.
This bed system is the most
natural electric bed that is available. It is not 100% natural, the wooden slats are laminated
and also have a synthetic tape along the center.
There is also an electric motor. The mattress (not shown in photo) that is
included with the electric foundation set is a blended latex mattress with organic cotton and
wool quilted to the cotton mattress fabric.
Using
Wool has given us the flame-retardant standard required by law. This means a medical prescription is not needed.
Warranty: The mattress has a 10
year manufacture warranty. The motor has a 15 year manufacture warranty.

| Will it support my back? |
- Latex
dynamically conforms to you, providing superior support and pressure relief.
By gently conforming to your every contour, latex provides back
support and pressure relief. Relieving pressure reduces the
tossing and turning that interrupts sleep and brings needed oxygen and
nutrients to tired aching muscles.

How Does a Latex System
Feel When Compared To A Coil System? |
- Innerspring mattress
push up to support your body. Latex mattress feel denser while helping to
relieve the pressure points of the body. Some customers explain it by
saying, Innersprings make you feel kind of like your up in the air and
latex feels like you are grounded to the earth.
|
| I have allergies, what would be
good for me? |
- Natural Latex is inherently
hypo-allergenic, anti-microbial, and dust mite resistant, making it
perfect for allergy sufferers or anyone wanting to breathe fresh, clean
air while they sleep. In addition, natural latex is breathable, keeping
you warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. It costs a little
more, but in the long run, it will provide you with the perfect balance of
comfort and support for years to come. Our latex is in the form of a foam.
There have not been any reported cases of allergies to latex foam that
we know of. People
that are allergic to latex, are normally allergic to the type of latex
used in making latex gloves.
|
| Sleeping
partner moves around too much? |
- Good choice for people who are
concerned with movement of the mattress by a partner. Latex recovers in a
quickly and dampens the movements without disturbing the sleeping partner
because of its inherent resilience which cannot be matched by synthetic
versions. In addition, the special King size is actually two extra long
twin sets.
|
| Does the Latex Bed contain a spring
system? |
- The latex bed does not contain a spring system, it is similar to
foam beds, but natural. The bed has a 100% latex core, can be covered with
cotton and wool, and has an exterior fabric made of cotton. The
latex provides good support for your back while still maintaining
comfort.
|
| Natural Latex vs.
Memory Foam |
- Memory foam, also known as
Visco-Elastic, is made of man made chemicals. Memory foam mattresses can work well for people that do not move in their
bed. We have had customers that have switched from memory foam mattresses to our natural latex mattresses
because they told us that they felt like they were "sleeping on jello"
and "quicksand."
When sleeping on memory foam, it creates a body impression in the
mattress. And when you move, it takes a while before it goes back to shape. In
the mean time, it can feel lumpy. We have had people tell us that they
felt "sea sick" because of this. Other people have told us that
they have had trouble with the chemical smells from the memory foam. Some
people describe the smell as being similar to rotten cabbage.
Memory foam mattresses outgas man made chemicals and are sold under several different names.
Some of the brand names include Contour-Pedic®, Craftmatic Adjustable
Beds®, Isotonic®, Nautilus Sleep Systems®, NovaForm®, Tempur-Pedic®, and
True Sleeper®. When researching
mattresses, make sure that you get the details on what the mattress is
made out of...no matter how slick and expensive their advertising is. Some
of these mattress companies spend literally millions of advertising
dollars every year trying to convince you that their memory foam is better
because it is high tech or developed by NASA. We do not have a big advertising budget. Instead,
our focus is putting money into the quality of the materials.
With latex, it relieves the pressure points of the body as
well, but when you move in the bed, it comes back to it's original shape
quickly. So you don't feel lumps. With latex beds, the room does not need
to be 65 degrees or higher. Latex is also firmer than memory foam and it
therefore has less body impressions than memory foam. You usually
will not see body impressions in an all natural latex mattress for at
least 8 years. Our Latex mattresses also do not contain
chemical fire retardants.
|
| Relieves
Pressure Points |
- Latex is naturally
conforming to assure optimal orthopedic support in any sleep position. This
helps your body alleviate high pressure areas that can cause you to toss and
turn at night.

Why are all natural mattresses
not available in regular mattress stores? |
- There are actually a
couple of reasons. First of all, these mattresses are made by a mattress
manufacture that puts it's money in quality natural materials and quality
employees, and not in the marketing of these mattresses. So the
manufacture is not able to offer the advertising benefits that the large
conventional mattress manufactures are able to do. It is much easier for
the retail stores to sell mattresses that have had a lot of money spent in
advertising. These mattresses would have to sell at much higher prices to
market them in this way and we do not want to do that to our customers.
Second, most stores do not want to bother to training their employees to
understand the benefits of natural mattresses. In addition to training the
employees, the employees would need to dedicate a lot of time to teaching
the customers about the differences. Third, no one is getting rich from
selling natural household products. Because the materials often costs
several times more and they are made in small quantities, the margins are
usually not as high as a mattress made of the cheapest materials possible.
The government only has regulations on mattresses to protect people from
fires. They do not regulate what people put in them or even how toxic the
materials used may be. So most conventional mattresses end up being made
as cheaply as possible with high mark ups and slick ad campaigns. In
other words, it is much easier and more profitable to sell conventional
type mattresses than all natural mattresses. But then again, we never went
into this business to get rich. We are in this business because we
understand the need and importance of teaching people about the benefits
of natural environmentally friendly products over conventional products.
